MEET Marla
Marla combines decades of expertise in human physical therapy with advanced training in canine rehabilitation to help dogs move, feel, and perform at their best. She holds degrees in Kinesiology and Physical Therapy and became a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) in 2011. Throughout her career, she has specialized in biomechanics, injury prevention, and functional movement—skills that translate seamlessly into her work with dogs.
Her journey into canine care began with her own aging dog, inspiring her to pursue certification as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2019. She then joined the rehabilitation team at Mid-Atlantic Animal Specialty Hospital (MASH), where she proudly continues to practice today. Her ongoing clinical work at MASH keeps her closely connected to veterinary rehabilitation, collaborative care, and current best practices.
With extensive training in manual therapy, strength progression, movement science, and dry needling (CMTPT/DN), Marla brings a highly skilled, evidence-based approach to canine fitness. She designs individualized programs to build strength, mobility, balance, and endurance—helping dogs thrive at every age, from energetic puppies to seniors and high-performance athletes.
Marla believes every dog deserves to live their best life - to feel strong and mobile for as long as possible. Her goal is to support dogs in living active, healthy, fulfilling lives—so they can enjoy more good days, more adventures, and more meaningful time with the people who adore them.
